January 26, 1950 India after proclaiming a republic, the retiring Governor General, C Rajagopalachari, invited the first elected Indian President Dr. Rajendra Prasad, to fill the presidential post in the Durbar Hall in the House government.
Thus began a new era. Saga of a new nation began. Since then this day 26th January is been celebrated as Indian Republic Day with much fan food. Each year we invite a special guest of honor to witness the parade of Republic Day, held in New Delhi.
This year as on Year 2011; India hav President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as the chief guest. Normally, the main guests are invited from countries with which India prefer special relationship.
